Bubulcus ibis coromandus " ) is the national bird of Botswana.
To the human ear, the sounds are indistinguishable from the black-crowned night heron ( " Nycticorax nycticorax " ) and the cattle egret ( " Bubulcus ibis " ) with which it sometimes associates.
Vagrant birds ( many from nearby Turkey ) include " Circus macrourus, Charadrius leschenaultii, Apus affinis, Luscinia luscinia, Merops persicus, Ficedula semitorquata, Oenanthe cypriaca, Sturnus roseus, Hoplopterus spinosus, Emberiza rustica, Chettusia gregaria, Bubulcus ibis, Anthropoides virgo, Passer moabiticus " and very many others.
The Inner Delta is also rich in heron species, particularly " Bubulcus ibis " and " Casmerodius albus . " " Poicephalus senegalus " ( Senegal parrot ), " Serinus mozambicus " ( yellow-fronted canary ) and " Haliaeetus vocifer " ( African fish eagle ) are some of the other species reported in Mali.
